 Transforming Rice Cultivation through AWD 


 Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) is an innovative water management technique in rice cultivation that significantly contributes to climate change mitigation. Unlike traditional continuous flooding, AWD periodically alternates between wet and dry soil conditions, thereby reducing anaerobic decomposition and methane emissions. Using perforated water tubes (approximately 30 cm long) to monitor water depth, farmers can precisely manage irrigation, enhancing water efficiency and lowering greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining crop productivity.
